ISO 50 in low light with a long exposure - Pan F film
This is one of my favorite photos, and one that taught me that most folks really do enjoy being photographed when they’re enjoying themselves - being themselves. Since that day I have chosen to engage most of my subjects in conversation before tripping the shutter. When I let them know that I’m shooting black & white film, their guard usually drops immediately. Then I just start asking them questions about themselves or what they do - after that, the shots just come.
This is from a beautiful Saturday morning in the Colonial Williamsburg garden. I shot this last year. Needed a little color on this rainy Saturday a year later.
